Brunch
Today, we are putting together a festive brunch menu that is perfect for a weekend or holiday morning. It’s bright, colorful, and no forks are required!
A combination of the words breakfast and lunch, brunch is a meal served between 10 AM and 2 PM. It’s like breakfast without a time constraint. No alarms and no rush, plus no judgment if you have both coffee and a cocktail.
What other meal can say that?
Brunch became popular a little over 100 years ago as a remedy for those who drank a little too much on a Friday or Saturday night. This late morning meal soon morphed into a social time with friends and family to leisurely enjoy together.
The street cred of brunch jumped up a notch or two or three in the past decade once social media influencers started posting about trendy brunch-worthy restaurants and DIY at-home brunch menus. It was no longer just eggs benedict and waffles, brunch now included items like avocado toast, shakshouka, and specialty cocktails.
Brunch is a great option during the holidays when there are more mornings that allow for sleeping in, overnight guests, and something special to celebrate the season.
Today’s festive menu includes sundried tomato egg bites, an avocado toast station, homemade figgy pop tarts, and a California sunrise cocktail.
Please know that I am fond of you all, but the recipes below are just for paid subscribers.
